The income we receive from donations and fundraising events organised by our supporters is vital to the work we do, and we also organise some events ourselves. These are listed on our calendar and advertised in our e-bulletins and What’s On.
We are always looking for more fun ways to fundraise, and if you have an idea for a fundraising event please get in touch.
Walk With Us at the kiltwalk on Sunday 29th April 2018
We are repeating our Walk With Us challenge from 2016, but with a twist in 2018. This time we are going to join in with the kiltwalk in Glasgow. By doing this we can increase your donation by 40%, which is what Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation will add to any funds you raise. We would like to have a big presence at the walks – which can be 6 miles, 13 miles, or you can go for the 26 mile Mighty Stride. You need to register directly with the Kiltwalk. While you’re registering you will be asked if you want to raise money for a specific charity, and this is where you type Carers Link. We have also set up a Team Carers link within the Kiltwalk which we would love you to join – just click “use this page” when you find us. In any case please let us know if you are going to walk for Carers Link so we can keep in touch.
If you are unable to Walk With Us at the kiltwalk, you can still support us by sponsoring one of our team members, and by spreading the word so that other people can sponsor us. To make sure that your sponsorship is matched by the Hunter Foundation, please sponsor us through our kiltwalk team Everyday Hero page. All of our team members will be there, and whoever you choose to sponsor Carers Link will get the money raised, and remember – for every £200 we raise we will get an additional £80 from the Hunter Foundation.
Past fundraising events include:
Supernova at the Kelpies 2017
Four of Carers Link staff took part in the Supernova 5K at the Kelpies in November 2017. Congratulations to Clair, Jan, Judith and Katy, and thank you to everyone who sponsored them to raise a magnificent £914. The event was great fun, and we hope to do it again in 2018, so if you fancy getting involved please get in touch.
April Fool’s Challenge 2014
It took them 12 hours but on Friday 4th April 2014, Alister Reid, Emma Azzopardi and Paul Peter completed the 44 mile April Fool’s Challenge by bike and canoe from our offices in Milngavie to the Falkirk Wheel and back. They raised over £3,500.
Walk with Us 2016
In April 2016 around 100 people walked with us to Kirkintilloch. Some started at our offices and walked 13 miles, and for others the family friendly walk of 3.5 miles started in Bishopbriggs. The sun shone. There was lots of chat, and the total raised was an amazing £17,000.
Smoothie Bike Challenge 2017
In June 2017 we challenged visitors to the Milngavie Classic Car Show to cycle their own smoothie, and raised over £400.
