Dementia friendly opera

Scottish Opera is performing a specially created performance of La boheme in Glasgow on Saturday 13th May for people with dementia and their family and friends. The specially created performance is fully-staged, and performed by a narrator, The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and a wonderful cast of singers. You will be led through the story, and hear some of the best-loved music from the opera. Lighting levels in the auditorium are brighter, and people are able to come in and out of the auditorium during the performance and see the show in the bar on TV screens.

Tickets are £10, and can be booked by calling the box office on 0844 871 7647, and you can find out more on the Scottish Opera website.

Scottish Opera also has a Memory Spinners group which meets weekly from Monday 24th April to Monday 5th June. Using music, storytelling, movement and the visual arts, the programme helps people with dementia and their carers relax, get creative and form new support networks.

Throughout each term, they share memories that are then incorporated into a relaxed performance for friends and family.
