COVID-19 PPE

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Accessing PPE

The Scottish Government has committed to providing free PPE (personal protective equipment such as gloves, face masks and aprons) to carers providing personal care (tasks such as washing and dressing) until March 2023, at which point the situation will be reviewed. Carers in East Dunbartonshire can access PPE through Carers Link.

PPE is provided by local hubs but is ordered through Carers Link. You can then either collect the PPE yourself or we can arrange delivery if needed. As the demand for PPE decreases the hub opening hours in are reducing and it is now only open on Thursdays.

To order PPE call us on 0800 975 2131 or email enquiry@carerslink.org.uk. Please make sure that you order any PPE as early in the week as possible so that we can arrange ordering (and delivery if needed).

The Scottish Government has produced advice about PPE for unpaid carers who visit or live with a friend or family member to provide help with personal care.

The National Carer Organisations have put together some FAQs about PPE for carers.

We are normally open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00 pm, but appointments (by phone, in person or online) out with these hours can be arranged. Currently mail is not being picked up from the office on a regular basis so if possible please email or phone us. During evenings and weekends, if you or someone you know requires urgent social work support, please call 0800 811 505.
