Supporting Autism and Neurodiversity (SAND) is a 6 week basic training course. Each  2hour 30 minute session includes a presentation and time for Q & A. The aim is for participants to attend all 6 sessions to build the knowledge required to support their individual(s) or themselves.

Week 4 Sensory Differences– understanding the sensory system and the differences common within neurodiversity. The impacts of these and practical strategies to minimise and manage impact.

Week 5 Arousal and Behavioural- a look at the impact these differences have on arousal levels and resulting defensive behaviours. Strategies to understand causation and to reduce and manage arousal and behaviours.

Week 6 Getting it Right- Practical strategies to analyse behaviours and how to build intervention plans to support growth and capacity within out individuals. How to manage risk and minimise negative behaviours.

The course will be  delivered via Zoom in partnership with DIFFERabled, and places can be booked by emailing differabledscotland@gmail.com.  They will ask for the first 3 letters of your post code [to identify your local authority for funders] and a very short bio [e.g. parent of 7yr ASD boy].
