Through our Time to Live grants Carers Link can offer grants to unpaid carers in East Dunbartonshire to help them get a break from their caring role. A break is an important way you can look after yourself so that you are able to continue your caring role. Here's another suggestion of how you could get a break from your caring role if you're not able to leave the person you care for. Ethan used his Time to Live grant to buy a puzzle book subscription. As well as giving you a break while you are reading or puzzling, a monthly subscription to a puzzle book or other magazine can give you something to look forward to each month. You can find out more and apply at carerslink.org.uk/apply-for-funding/, and if you have an idea you want to talk through, or need help completing the application form, you can contact Katy, our Carer Grants Coordinator, on Katy@carerslink.org.uk, or call us on 0800 975 2131. ... If you’re finding it hard to get a break from your caring role, remember that it’s important to make time for yourself so you can continue caring. January is often a time for looking forward, so why not think about what would help you get a break in 2026. Over the next few weeks we’re going to share some stories from other carers which we hope will give you inspiration for ways that you can get a short break. If you want to talk about your ideas with someone, Katy, our Carer Grants Coordinator is there to help you, or you can apply for a Time to Live grant using the form on our website at carerslink.org.uk/apply-for-funding/This week it’s Carter’s story:Carter cares for both of his elderly parents who have age related mobility issues. Carter provides a lot of physical and emotional support as well as helping them with household tasks and running their errands. He used his Time to Live grant to attend weekly woodwork classes and buy equipment.“Caring made it difficult for me to prioritise my own interests. Since I started going to my class each week I’ve realised how beneficial it is to my mental health., I am much better equipped to care for me parents after, which benefits everyone.”Find out more and apply for funding at carerslink.org.uk/apply-for-funding/ ...
