If you’re finding it hard to get a break from your caring role, remember that it’s important to make time for yourself so you can continue caring. January is often a time for looking forward, so why not think about what would help you get a break in 2026. Over the next few weeks we’re going to share some stories from other carers which we hope will give you inspiration for ways that you can get a short break. If you want to talk about your ideas with someone, Katy, our Carer Grants Coordinator is there to help you, or you can apply for a Time to Live grant using the form on our website at carerslink.org.uk/apply-for-funding/This week it’s Carter’s story:Carter cares for both of his elderly parents who have age related mobility issues. Carter provides a lot of physical and emotional support as well as helping them with household tasks and running their errands. He used his Time to Live grant to attend weekly woodwork classes and buy equipment.“Caring made it difficult for me to prioritise my own interests. We hope you survived the festive season and that it delivered a little sprinkling of magic for you along the way - we understand Christmas can be a difficult time for various reasons, so well done getting through it 💪. It means everything to us to have you with us and we’re here to help in any way we can as we start this new journey into 2026... A HUGE thankyou as well to all those who took part in any of our Christmas fundraising activities, whether it was designing or purchasing an Christmas E-Card, Gifting a Carer, Purchasing a 2026 Calendar, Downloading the Easy Fundraising App, or sharing our social posts. These things have a big impact on our funds and what we can provide going forward, so we are really very grateful 🙏🙏🙏Finaly, Special shout out to Sarah Thurlbeck for photographing, designing and selling our 2026 Calendar!
